Community Impact
The numbers tell a bigger story than dollars alone. Community fundraising laid the foundation, and together with the studio's continued investment, it helped provide $22,514 in scholarships this year. Every raffle ticket, LMNT Slim, bingo cards, class card extension, and fundraiser became an open door for someone to practice, heal, or begin their teaching journey. Thank you for helping us make yoga more accessible, one act of generosity at a time.

ON VACAY? YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM DOESN’T CARE

Vacation is supposed to feel relaxing.
So why do we sometimes come home more exhausted than when we left?
It turns out your nervous system is paying attention to something different than your calendar.
Your brain is constantly scanning for one question: "Is this familiar or is this new?"
New airports. New beds. New time zones. New restaurants. New people. Even exciting experiences require your brain to process more information than usual. Scientists call this allostatic load, which is simply the amount of work your body does to adapt to change.
Even positive experiences create this load.
Think about it. A day at the beach can include bright sunlight, heat, dehydration, crowds, extra walking, rich food, and less sleep. None of those things are necessarily bad, but together they ask your nervous system to work harder than it would on an ordinary Tuesday.
That is why you can feel both happy and tired at the same time.
The Good News
Your nervous system also responds quickly to simple signals of safety.
Research shows that spending time in nature, moving your body gently, slowing your breathing, sleeping consistently, and maintaining small daily routines all help shift the body toward its natural rest and recovery state.
You do not need an entire wellness retreat.
Sometimes five quiet minutes outside does more for your nervous system than another hour scrolling your phone in the hotel room.
Vacation Without Burning Yourself Out
Keep one familiar ritual.
A morning stretch, a cup of coffee on the porch, or five minutes of meditation reminds your body that home is not just a place. It is a feeling.
Eat a real meal.
Vacation treats are part of the fun, but your brain and body still need protein, fiber, and water to feel their best.
Move because it feels good.
A sunset walk. A few Sun Salutations. Swimming. Dancing. Movement helps your body process stress instead of storing it.
Protect your sleep.
One late night is part of the adventure. Five in a row can leave your nervous system feeling like it never got the memo that this was supposed to be restful.
Leave space for nothing.
Not every hour needs to be planned. Sometimes the most restorative part of a vacation is sitting on a porch with nowhere to be.
The Wayfinder Reminder
Rest is not something you earn after you've done enough. It is something your nervous system needs in order to keep doing the things you love.
Whether you are traveling across the world or spending August close to home, remember this: The best vacation is not the busiest one.
It is the one that allows you to come home feeling more like yourself than when you left.

Bright Ideas, Grounded Steps
August begins in the heart of Leo season, inviting us to turn the volume up on who we really are.
Leo energy is bold, expressive, creative, and deeply alive. With the Sun at home in this sign, vitality runs high, inspiration feels easier to access, and connection carries a little extra warmth. This is the season for being outside, gathering with people you love, making something just because it excites you, and following whatever makes you feel most like yourself.
Leo reminds us that taking up space does not have to mean taking space away from someone else. Sometimes, letting yourself shine gives everyone around you permission to do the same.
The question for the season is: What could you create if you stopped holding back your full potential?
On August 12, eclipse season arrives with a Solar Eclipse along the Leo–Aquarius axis.
These sister signs ask us to find the balance between owning our individual light and remembering that we are part of something larger. Leo asks, “What do I have to share?” Aquarius asks, “How can it serve the collective?”
This is a beautiful time to journal, listen for new ideas, and take one small step toward greater connection. Maybe that looks like volunteering, trying a new class, introducing yourself to someone new, or joining us for Yoga Burrito Kitchari Music Yard.
The community time at the end of YBKMY gives us space to slow down, learn more about one another, and connect beyond the mat. And who knows? You may find the exact person you need to bounce those big Leo ideas around with.
On August 22, Virgo season enters the chat.
Summer begins to soften, school starts back up, routines return, and many of us find ourselves getting back into the rhythm of everyday life.
After Leo season delivers the inspiration, Virgo helps us create a plan.
This is the time to organize your thoughts, edit what feels unnecessary, refine the details, and bring your ideas into a form that can actually live in the world. Virgo reminds us that more is not always better. Thoughtful, intentional, and well cared for will take us much further than trying to do everything at once.
It is also a supportive time to return to the routines that help you feel steady. Maybe that means rebuilding a consistent yoga practice after summer travel, getting back into a nourishing eating rhythm, or creating a little more structure around rest.
You do not need to overhaul your whole life. Start with one practice that helps you feel more like yourself.
We close the month on August 28 with a Full Moon and partial Lunar Eclipse in Pisces. This eclipse activates the Pisces–Virgo axis, bringing together intuition and discernment, surrender and structure, dreaming and doing.
Pisces energy is watery, intuitive, compassionate, and a little otherworldly. This lunation may bring an emotional storyline to a natural turning point, offering clarity around a relationship, creative project, spiritual path, or belief you have been carrying.
Something may be ready to soften.
An old fear. A lingering disappointment. A story about yourself that no longer feels true. Maybe forgiveness arrives, not because what happened was okay, but because you are ready to stop carrying it.
Pisces does not always release through force. Sometimes, it simply allows what is no longer needed to wash away.
This eclipse may feel both gentle and powerful. You may feel more sensitive, reflective, nostalgic, or tired as the month comes to a close. Give yourself space to dream, rest, feel, and listen.
Your inner compass may be recalibrating.
You do not have to know exactly where you are going yet. Let August remind you that wayfinding is equal parts courage, connection, discernment, and trust.

🍑 Peach & Burrata Summer Salad
It's vibrant, seasonal, cooling (Ayurveda-friendly for late summer), and feels a little indulgent without being complicated.

Pair it with sparkling water infused with cucumber and mint, or a chilled hibiscus tea for an extra cooling touch.
Serves: 4
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Late summer is often associated with Pitta dosha, which can leave us feeling overheated, irritable, or depleted. This salad helps balance that fiery energy with naturally cooling ingredients:
🍑 Peaches hydrate and provide a sweet, cooling quality.
🌿 Basil supports digestion while adding fresh, aromatic flavor.
🥬 Leafy greens offer lightness and minerals to replenish the body.
🧀 Burrata brings richness that satisfies without feeling heavy when enjoyed in moderation.
🥜 Pistachios add healthy fats and crunch, helping create a meal that's both nourishing and grounding.
Ingredients
3 ripe peaches, sliced
8 oz burrata cheese
4 cups arugula or mixed greens
¼ cup fresh basil leaves
¼ cup toasted pistachios, roughly chopped
2 tablespoons balsamic glaze
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
Juice of ½ lemon
Flaky sea salt
Fresh cracked black pepper
Optional
Thinly sliced prosciutto
Fresh mint
Edible flowers for presentation
Directions
Arrange the arugula on a large serving platter.
Scatter the sliced peaches over the greens.
Tear the burrata into large pieces and place throughout the salad.
Sprinkle with basil leaves and toasted pistachios.
Drizzle with olive oil, lemon juice, and balsamic glaze.
Finish with flaky sea salt and fresh cracked pepper.
Serve immediately with crusty sourdough or grilled bread.
Your Summer Reset According to Ayurveda

Yoga + Ayurveda for hot yoga humans
By August, summer has a way of catching up with us.
The excitement of long days, vacations, cookouts, and staying out just a little later begins to leave its mark. We may feel more irritable, more tired, less patient, or simply a little disconnected from ourselves. Ayurveda recognizes this as the natural accumulation of heat. Not just the temperature outside, but the internal fire that builds after months of movement, stimulation, and doing.
The beautiful thing is that balance does not require a complete life overhaul. It is often found in the smallest daily rituals repeated with intention.
Morning
Begin before the world asks anything of you.
Start with a tongue scraper to clear away what your body released overnight. Follow with a mug of warm water with fresh lemon to gently awaken digestion and hydration.
Before reaching for your phone, spend five minutes outside. Feel the morning air. Notice the light. Listen for the birds. Your nervous system responds to nature long before it responds to notifications.
Midday
According to Ayurveda, the digestive fire is strongest when the sun is highest in the sky. This makes lunch the ideal time for your most nourishing meal.
Think colorful vegetables, fresh herbs, healthy fats, and foods that leave you feeling energized instead of sluggish. Cooling herbs such as mint, cilantro, basil, and fennel can help support the body during the lingering heat of late summer.
And before rushing into the next thing, pause for three slow breaths. Sometimes that is enough to remind the body that it is safe.
Evening
As the sun begins to set, let your pace soften too.
Take a slow walk around the neighborhood. Roll out your yoga mat for a YIN practice that asks nothing more than your presence. Sip a warm cup of rose tea and allow the day to settle.
Yoga says: become aware.
Ayurveda says: adjust skillfully.
The Wayfinder Reminder
Ayurveda teaches us that wellness is not created through perfection. It is created through rhythm.
Small rituals become steady habits. Steady habits become the way we care for ourselves. And the way we care for ourselves becomes the way we move through the world.
This August, you do not need to do more.
You may simply need to return to what helps you feel most like yourself.
A Final Note
"Your light was never meant to compete. It was meant to illuminate."
